Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) & Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Purpose-Built Homes with Clinical and Daily Living Support for Complex Needs

At AIVA Healthcare, we believe every person deserves to live in a home that supports their individual needs, promotes independence, and enhances their quality of life. Our Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and Supported Independent Living (SIL) services are designed for NDIS participants with high physical, cognitive, or psychosocial support needs who require ongoing assistance with daily living activities and clinical care.

Through the integration of purpose-designed housing, clinical oversight, and person-centred support, AIVA Healthcare provides a stable and supportive living environment that enables individuals to live as independently and safely as possible.

What is Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)?

SDA refers to specially designed housing for NDIS participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. These homes are built to meet specific design categories (Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible, Robust, or High Physical Support) and include features that support mobility, accessibility, and safety.

Our SDA properties are:

  • Fully compliant with NDIS SDA Design Standards
  • Located in safe, inclusive community settings
  • Designed to accommodate clinical and behavioural needs
  • Equipped with assistive technology and emergency response systems

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

SIL provides 24/7 support for participants who require assistance with daily tasks in a shared or individual living arrangement. Our SIL support is delivered by trained support workers and, where necessary, clinical staff to assist with:

  • Personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing)
  • Medication administration and health monitoring
  • Meal preparation and nutrition management
  • Household tasks including cleaning, laundry, and budgeting
  • Behaviour support and community participation
  • Overnight or active sleepover support

Our Clinical and Support Services Include:

  • Comprehensive Needs Assessments conducted by our multidisciplinary team
  • Individualised Living and Support Plans based on participant goals and clinical requirements
  • 24/7 Onsite or On-Call Support Staff, including access to nursing and allied health professionals
  • Integration with Allied Health Services (e.g. physiotherapy, speech therapy, dietetics, psychology)
  • Coordination with External Providers, guardians, and families to ensure holistic care
  • Routine Safety, Behavioural, and Health Reviews to adjust support as needed

Who Is Eligible for SDA or SIL?

Eligibility is determined by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and based on an individual’s:

  • Functional capacity
  • Support needs
  • Housing goals
  • Risk factors and safety considerations

Our team can assist participants and families in navigating the application and approval process for SDA and SIL, including Functional Assessments, OT housing reports, and collaboration with support coordinators.
